The eyes and ears for the Canadian drag racing scene will be on Grand Bend Motorplex this weekend…..

It seems almost inconceivable — but this coming weekend will mark the 20th anniversary for Canada’s single longest running major drag racing event (!)   The 2019 Mopar Canadian Nationals goes down along the scenic shorelines of Lake Huron at Ontario’s Grand Bend Motorplex.

Proudly presented by Mopar Canada, who have been the event’s primary sponsor for all 20 versions, this drag racing event will feature once again localized talents combined with an expanded and major injection of booked in feature racers to help celebrate this events’ important milestone achievement.

Nitromethane fumes will most certainly be in the air with five class categories being part of the show — highlighted by a Top Fuel match up between the two Paton Racing dragsters (veteran Todd Paton vs newly licenced Jeff Chatterson) and also NHRA level fuel Funny Car drivers Jack Wyatt vs Dale Creasy.   The highly formidable and extremely fast NHRA injected nitro cars raced by Jeff Veale (Ontario) vs Daniel Mercier (Quebec) will also face off for bragging rites.   The nitro schedule continues with a booked in 4-car show of Nitro Nostalgia Funny Cars and also 6 Top Fuel Harley riders.

Paton Racing’s “two” Top Fuel dragsters will be at Grand Bend this weekend.

Chicago’s Dale “Peanut” Creasy will bring in his new Dodge Charger bodied fuel FC.

Jeff Veale (from Stoney Creek ON) will race his 280 mph capable injected nitro dragster versus Daniel Mercier.

Grand Bend Motorplex’s already very aggressive “Bracket Blowout” which will see ET bracket drivers compete for IHRA “Ironmans” will be supplemented by a number of other popular series’.   The list includes the PSDS (Pro Sportsman Dragster Series) with their complement of Pro Mod, Top Sportsman and Top Dragsters, the CanAm Stock/Super Stock Series and also the Great Lakes Pro Tree Association – which features 10.90, 9,90 and 8.90 index racing.

Nitro Nostalgia Funny Cars return!

The PSDS classes will be featured — and yes — Wes Goddard’s crazy cool turbocharged Nash is on that entry list!

Eastern Canada’s thriving Can-Am Stock/Super Stock circuit and drivers will be in attendance.

The 2019 Mopar Canadian Nationals will also feature a number of added attractions — the exhibition jet cars (Neale Armstrong and Russ Lethbridge) and drag racing’s “first lady” herself Shirley Muldowney who will be the event’s Grand Marshall and signing autographs for fans at Mopar Canada’s display on Saturday.

The DragRaceCanada and LMLCMedia team will be on hand and we will have features and an extensive photo gallery – post race.
