Driving his familiar and ultra reliable ’57 Corvette Roadster, Shannon won the event for the second time in his career when he beat first time finalist Tanner Hiatt in the championship round.  Shannon matched his 2009 event final round win light here when he combined a superior .028 RT with a run of 9.920 secs at 145.66 mph.

Mike path to victory started with a #2 qualifying effort (9.908 secs) and included key round wins over last week’s event winner at Sonoma, Thomas Bayer and also Pacific West coast class hitter Mike Ferderer.

The win was Shannon’s second major event score in recent times — he had also prevailed in Quick Rod driving his dragster – during the IHRA race held at Edmonton in July.
