BIR – Canadian Photo Extra

A very good slew of Canadian cars and drivers were on hand for last weekend’s Lucas Oil NHRA Nationals at fabulous Brainerd International Raceway in Minnesota.   Here is a “photo extra” courtesy of valued DragRaceCanada contributing field photographer — “Jumpin’ Jimmy” Kampmann….

Ontario's Mark Martino returned to NHRA Pro Stock competition with an all new Jerry Haas built GXP. Congrats to Mark who qualified for the first time ever in NHRA at 6.683 secs

Gord Gingles, a former motorcycle drag racer, had a simply terrific debut in the TAD class at Brainerd. The Winnipeg based driver qualified well with a 5.530 secs at 253.66 in his first NHRA national event try (Photo by: Dave Kommell Auto Imagery)

Barry Daniluk made the tow from Red Deer AB to BIR. He qualified his naturally aspirated '68 Camaro #2 in TS (6.491 secs) and won two rounds of competition.

Western Canadian Super Stock stalwart Abe Loewen (from Regina) had another nice event effort. Abe qualified his SS/FM Pontiac #9 (.665 under) and won two rounds

Calgary's Roger Bateman raced the now Colorado-based Y-Not Racing Mustang in TAFC. Roger won his first round before the car crept in round two resulting in a foul start

Rob and Connie Meservier (from Thunder Bay ON) had their very cool Top Sportsman '68 Chevelle entered in NHRA national event competition for the first time. Rob qualified 15th but lost in round one

Winnipeg’s Doug Doucette had his injected nitro car running well at BIR. His driver (Scott Palmer) qualified #7 with a 5.417 secs at 260.66 mph
