Paolo Giust of Osgood Ontario has made quite the New Year’s resolution and this coming season he see him bring a brand new 2015 C7 Corvette Pro Mod to the tour….
Paolo got his start racing street cars in the 80’s at Luskville raceway. After progressing from there to the Top Dragster and Top Sportsman classes with the Quick 32 series — in 2012 he moved up to the PMRA Pro Mod class with a 63 split window Corvette Pro Mod. After a successful 3-year stint there — Paolo is now even more focused on Pro Mod class racing.
The decision was made and the 63 Corvette was sold. When asked about the new car, Paolo said, “The decision was an easy one, our family loves corvettes so we decided to build a 2015 C7 Corvette”. He continues with ” Since joining the Promod circuit in 2012 with a solid ’63 Split Window Corvette it is time to build something custom for me. Everything in this car is a perfect fit. This car is being built to stay competitive in the top of the field amongst some of the strongest competitors”
The new Vette, which is nearing completion at G Force Race Cars is going to be powered by a 521 BAE Hemi that was built by MSR Performance with a fuel system being tweaked by Resolution Racing and a Chuck Ford supercharger. This package should produce around 3000 hp.
The teams first outing with the car is going to be at the PDRA event in early April. After that they plan on running events with the PDRA, some of the IHRA dates and the Ultimate Showdown in Canada.
When asked who the team would like to thank, Paolo had this to say “Pro mod racing is a team sport and a strong team will get the job done. I am lucky to have put together a team of dynamic individuals all with their own unique talents and abilities bringing us great strength on the track. My crew chief and tuner, Jim Salemi, is one of the best in the industry and has become a great friend”. He also goes on to say that Jamie Clarmo, Joe Kavenaugh, Matt Maxsom and Jamie Petric, along with his wife, Shannon Giust, have played an intricate part in Team Chew-That’s success to date.
The team would also like to make mention of the talents of Mike Stawicki of MSR Performance and the engines he has provided over the years.
Paolo ends the conversation with ” No matter what happens on the track there is always laughter, great eats and good times back at in the pits!”
The teams 2015 Sponsors include: Chew-That Pet Foods & Accessories, G-Force Race Cars, MSR Performance, Resolution Racing Services and Clarmo Auto Repair.
