Canadian Drag Racing Community Mourns

It’s been an absolutely terrible week for the Canadian drag racing community.   We have lost some of our brothers and words cannot express our feelings….

We regret to report that veteran and highly popular Can-Am Series Super Stock racing Gene Emes (from Uxbridge ON) passed away yesterday in hospital, due to complications.   Gene along with his wife Beth and sons Stephen and Ken were and intrical and dedicated part of the Eastern Canadian series with their popular multi-car racing team.

We also lost Super Gas driver Reg Wilson from Calgary.  Reg who fulfilled his lifelong dream when he won his first national event at NHRA Seattle last summer, passed away last Saturday following a battle with cancer.

The loss of Gene and Reg was preceded by more bad news earlier in the week with the news that Tim Thorne (a valued and respected crew-member to Rob Becker’s Super Stock team) and William “Bob” Potter, father to longtime TMP photographer and announcer Rob Potter had also both passed.

DragRaceCanada on behalf of the entire Canadian drag racing community extends it’s heartfelt condolences to the family, friends and associates of Gene, Reg, Tim and Bob…..

It is a reminder to all — enjoy your life and treat everyone around you with respect and kindness….
