Canadian Living Legend to Appear!
John Petrie, arguably one of the first Canadian drag racers to achieve international fame status, will be making some limited personal appearances in Canada this season…..
Famous for his long series of both Ford and Chrysler product Stock, Super Stock and Pro Stock race cars dating back from early 1960’s until the 1970’s, Petrie is planning his first public appearances in 42 years, according to one of his original crew members and fellow drag racing proponent Gary McLennan.
John, who is now 71 years old and living in British Columbia will afford Ontario drag racing fans his first meet and greet with plans to attend as the “guest of honour” at Rob Potter’s Drag Strip Memories event this coming Sunday April 13th.
Rumours are that John will also be bringing one of his original race cars to display at the show which goes down from 9AM to 4PM that day at the Hamilton Airport’s Canadian Aviation Museum.
That will afford racing fans a truly rare opportunity to meet John and share some of Canadian drag racing’s very earliest memories.
