Canadian racer photo highlight captures from the recent NHRA Dodge Power Brokers U.S. Nationals….
A summary of just some of the solid Canadian racer participation once again during the world’s largest annual drag racing event.

Canada’s leading man within NHRA T/AD class racing – Shawn Cowie (from BC) had another great effort racing at Indy. He qualified his Mundies Towing dragster #3 (5.237 secs) and advanced to the third round before the car broke while racing Mike Coughlin in the semi final round.

Veteran driver Al Kenny (from Kingston ON) went to the final round for T/D racing during the event’s feature Jegs All Stars event! Al also ran well in the US Nationals T/D class eliminator – going to the 3rd round.

Eric & Richard Stroud (from Douglas ON) entered two similar cars in Super Gas at Indy. Eric (bottom photo) went further during eliminations – advancing to the 4th round in the 9.90 tournament.

Quebec’s Daniel Mercier gave Indy a go in Top Fuel! Daniel (from St-Michel) qualified right on the event’s swift bump — 3.758 secs – but lost out to pole qualifier Brittany Force in round one.

Norm Lapointe towed in from Sherwood Park AB for the US Nationals race. His 2-car effort included this classic ’67 Camaro G/SA which he took to the 4th round for Stock eliminator.

Two T/D cars from Alberta were entered with Mark Simmons (above) and Aaron Steinkey making the show. Both drivers lost out in round #1 for competition within the Vortec Superchargers presented eliminator.

Venice Perno entered his super cool SS/CS Mustang and did qualify for the brutal tough Super Stock program at -.839. Venice (from Stoney Creek ON) lost in round #2.

Justin Bond (from Mission BC) was the only Canadian car entered in the event’s FuelTech Pro Mod Series. Justin qualified #12/16 @5.826 secs – but then lost out to Rickie Smith in round one.

Sean Gaffney (from Navan ON) raced two cool Chevy cars at Indy — his familiar stick-shift SS/H Nova but also in this new A/S Camaro (top photo).

2nd generation driver Dominique Desjardins (son to Guy Desjardins) – from Chambly PQ – ran Indy as a driver his first time and went to the 4th round in Stock with this A/SA ’69 Camaro!

Darcy Clarke (from Spruce Grove AB) entered both his classic Mopar cars at Indy – not the least being his high flying fan favorite A/SA ’64 Fury.

Mark Howes drove his New Brunswick-based ’70 Duster in Stock eliminator but the cool Maritimes-based E/SA car broke out in round one.

Quebec’s Louis Gill raced his GT/FA ’92 Cavalier at Indy – but the usually strong running Eastern Canadian car did lose out to fellow Canadian Brian Oakes in round #1 for Super Stock eliminations.

Frank Federcio (who is a regular from within the Eastern Canada’s Stock/SS scene) chased Indy this weekend — but his F/S ’83 Camaro had a red-light start in round one.

Jason Kenny had the best finish for all Canadian racers at Indy – going all the way to the Super Comp final round! He lost by a narrow (8.889 secs) too quick ET in the final round versus Austin Williams.
