Some rather big news for Canadian drag racing at Gainesville was the debut of a brand new Ford Mustang TAFC for Paul Noakes. “Noaksie” qualified #13 with his new machine.

Quebec-based Daniel Mercier’s first race of 2014 produced a rather shocking DNQ for the normally strong running injected nitro car.

Kenny Lang has returned to his Pro Mod Camaro for 2014. His 6.061 secs best at Gainesville missed the ferocious Pro Mod field.

Edmonton’s Jim Bell continued his “rumble” to prominence in Pro Mod with a 5.958 secs qualifier.

Maritimes based Super Stock racers Brian Oakes and Wendall Howes both lost out in early eliminations.

PMRA circuit graduate Eric Latino tried his hand in Pro Mod but lost out in round #1 to fellow Canuck Ray Commisso.

John Laporte and Ike Maier made their first Top Fuel event attempt of 2014 – but missed the field with a 4.448 secs best.

New Brunswick’s James Cowie had a superb finish in Super Comp – going to the “final four” in the class on Sunday.

Craig Cawte made the long trip from Cranbrook BC to Gainesville only to have his 5.966 secs best run just miss the PM field (#17) – Ouch!

Sean Gaffney (from Ottawa) raced his spectacularly prepped Chevy Nova at Gainesville in Super Stock.

Jeff Arend qualified in the middle of the pack again in fuel FC (4.139 secs – 11th) but fell to Ron Capps in round #1.

Great to see Toronto’s Ray Commisso back in action after about a year off! Ray’s team ran well as they went to the semi final round in Pro Mod!

Quebec’s Bill Moloughney entered the Top Dragster class at GV – but lost out in round #1.
