Canadians Collect at Seattle NHRA Divisional

Last weekend’s NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing series event back at Seattle’s Pacific Raceways included some impressive performances by invading Canadian race teams…

In the final round for Competition eliminator Adam Bowdish (who is from Oregon) drove the car owned byEdmonton’s Ken Reich’s B/SM to victory.  Bowdish’s first win of the year in the ’05 Cavalier came over former Pacific Division champion Mike DePalma, in the final round with a lap of 8.011 seconds at 155.56 mph to DePalma’s 8.967, 148.62 in his ’89 Trans Am.

In what was a pretty cool re-run of the recent NHRA Northwest Nationals Super Gas title bout — it was Canadians Mike Shannon and Ken Mostowich facing off (again).  This time Shannon took the win in his ’57 Corvette at 9.902 seconds at 162.96 mph when Mostowich had a foul start, which for Shannon avenged his final round loss at the national event back on August 5th.

The S/G final went to Mike Shannon (near lane) who avenged his recent final round loss to Ken Mostowich at Seattle’s national event race.

Other Canadian’s visiting the winner’s circle this weekend included Brad Vinje, Langley, B.C., in Super Street, Kevin Brennan, Chilliwack, B.C. in Sportsman Motorcycle and Jamie Toelos, Dawson Creek, B.C., in Super Pro.

The event also included a national record setting effort by Vancouver’s Terry Spargo who rewrote NHRA’s A/AP class record to 6.59 secs driving his ‘02 Cavalier which is the former Mountain motor Pro Stocker campaigned by Ontario’s Paone Brothers.
