Clayton has Stranglehold on Can-Am Series
Port Perry Ontario’s Brian Clayton won round #12 of the 2012 Can-Am Stock/Super Stock series last weekend and with that has a very firm grip on the title entering the upcoming final event…
Round #12 in the Can-Am series was held the first day of Fall at St. Thomas Dragway and featured full day of great weather conditions, a strong field of 30 cars, and a mile stone for one of the competitors.
Thanks to Jay and all the St Thomas grew for their usual warm welcome and their hard work to provide us with outstanding track conditions on Sunday.
After 5 tight rounds of racing, Brian Clayton in his GT/EA ‘86 Camaro came out on top over Chad Groulx’s Monte Carlo in a close double breakout race. Brian’s win was his 3rd this year and he now has a stranglehold on the 2012 championship. In recent Can-Am Stock/SS history, no one has ever won 3 races in a season.
Of note, for the rest of the weekend, Tony Valerio was the Dilt’s Piston Hydraulics entry winner and Trevor Edmond was the winner of the closest to the dial qualifier , at just .002 over. Also, after losing first round in Can-Am, Ian Hill entered the Pro bracket race and emerged the winner. Can-Am racers ruled the weekend at St Thomas!
The 2012 Can-Am Stock/Super Stock series will wrap up it’s season on Oct. 6th at Cayuga Dragway, Toronto Motorsports Park.
