CMDRA Update from Medicine Hat

Round 5 of the Canadian Motorcycle Drag Association 2013 season saw Calgary Alberta’s Rob Aston arrive in Medicine Hat with a renewed confidence following a break-through performance in the previous round. Aston took advantage of near perfect track conditions and quickly established himself as the front runner, qualifying number one in the Pro Street division with a personal best time of 7.57 seconds. Aston went on to defeat Ken Froese in the Pro Street final and also took 1st place in the Super Street class.

Kevin Pettitt also took home multiple trophies, with victories in both the Screamin’ Eagle Stock XL and Hot Harley Classes. Crowd favorite, Al Miles, kept his undefeated streak in the Screamin’ Eagle Pro Dragster class alive, while Rick Adams finished first in the Screamin’ Eagle V-Rod division, handing Nick Allen his first defeat of the season.

The Screamin’ Eagle Top Fuel final featured a battle of the champions, with 2012 CMDRA Champion Damian Cownden lining up against reigning UEM Super Twin Champion, Nate Gagnon. Gagnon, who had been running strong all weekend, suffered engine failure during the run, leaving the door wide open for Cownden to grab the victory and retain the points lead.

Next up, the CMDRA heads to Fort St. John, BC for the Northern Nationals which will be held on August 17th and 18th at the Northern Lights Raceway.
