Cool from Calgary
Our valued Western Canadian contributor Don Meleshko spied this very cool and new for 2014 creation during some early season testing out at Castrol Raceway in Edmonton….
Owned by Rusty Hilderman, this 1940 Chevy truck. has a small block Chevy 421, approx. 600 HP. Bow Tie block with AFR heads. The transmission, and convertor were built by Transmission Specialities Inc. Two speed Powerglide. The rear diff is a Chevy 12 bolt with 456 gears. The Chassis, body chop, paint, electrical, and assembly was completed by himself, (Rowdy Race Products) Their company was established in Calgary in 2002, where they specialized in race car fabrication. They still build and repair race cars, but only part time basis out of High River, Alberta. Rusty’s drag racing career started in the 1990s on a snowmobile. Then he built his first dragster with a snowmobile engine on it. Since then Rusty has built and campaigned four different dragsters with the last one being a blown alcohol top dragster. He ran the car with the Alberta Renegades Blown Alcohol club however in 2007 he retired from racing. In 2011 they decided to get back into drag racing and built the 1940 Chevy dragster. They wanted something fun and cool and are now back having a great time with their drag racing friends and family. (Don Meleshko Photo)
