DragRaceCanada to Present CME Quarter-Mile Corral
DragRaceCanada’s “Quarter-Mile Corral” returns to Canadian Motorsports Expo this weekend. Three truly amazing machines will be featured…..
For the second year in a row, Canadian drag racing fans in attendance at the Canadian Motorsports Expo will be able to get an up-close look at some of Canada’s most exotic and impressive drag racing machines, thanks to Bruce Biegler’s DragRaceCanada.com. The CME takes place February 10, 11 and 12 at Toronto’s International Centre, adjacent to Toronto’s Pearson International Airport.
Biegler, who is also Inside Track Motorsport News’ Drag Racing Editor, has invited some of his ‘straight-line’ friends to be part of the ‘Quarter-Mile Corral’ at the CME.
Konigshofer Brothers’ Ford Mustang GT Mountain Motor Pro Stocker
John, Joe and Frank Konigshofer are considered Canada’s ‘first family’ of Pro Stock racing. They have been active in the class with a series of Ford-powered Pro Stock cars since 1991. During that time, they have set and reset numerous Canadian Pro Stock records. They are the one and only Canadian team to win a Pro Stock title at the national event level (winning in IHRA competition twice in 2002). The car they will display at the CME features a powerplant with 800+ CID (cubic inch displacement).
The “Nitro Express” Top Fuel Dragster
Owned by John Laporte and driven by Fred Farndon, the Nitro Express TF Dragster is one of only two Top Fuel dragsters based out of Canada. In 2010, Laporte purchased the racecar and entire racing operation. Last season, his team ran select events and showed great improvement each outing. Their achievements included a qualifying effort during the NHRA Full Throttle race at Englishtown New Jersey. The 7,000 HP machine is driven by Canadian legend Fred Farndon, who celebrated his 50th year of involvement in the straight-line sport in 2010.
B&B Racing 1941 Willys Pro Modified
Bruce Boland is one of Canada’s most respected Pro Modified class racers. He is a three-time PMRA points champion, earning a circuit ‘natural hat trick’ between 2007 and 2009. Boland narrowly missed earning his fourth career PMRA title last season, by a single point, in the closest championship chase in series history. Boland ran the quickest and fastest times of his career last season, driving his supercharged Willys, including a 5.953-second run at Cayuga Dragway.
Discussing these incredible machines and their upcoming appearance at the Canadian Motorsports Expo Powered by Inside Track, Bruce Biegler, Owner / Operator of DragRaceCanada said, “DragRaceCanada is once again very pleased to partner with Inside Track to help present this year’s Quarter-Mile Corral at the Canadian Motorsports Expo. We are honoured to have three amazing Canadian cars on display, which represent three of the most popular Professional classes in drag racing. On behalf of DragRaceCanada, Inside Track Motorsport News and the CME, we appreciate the car owners bringing their cars to the show during a very busy part of the year, as they prepare for the upcoming season.”
