DSE “Double Header” This Weekend at Cayuga

Sportsman Series set for Canada Day Weekend with New Sponsor and Two Big Points Races –  Stefko Racing Engines to Sponsor Super Gas for 2012 Season…..

After a successful opening weekend that drew record attendance and  produced extremely close racing, competitors in the DSE Sportsman Racing Series (DSE SRS) are getting ready to do it all over again June 30th and July 1st at Toronto Motorsports Park for points races number three and four in the series schedule.

Canada Day weekend also marks the first of two weekends for Super Gas competitors to return to Cayuga Dragway. Super Gas is an exciting heads-up class that runs on a 9.90-second index utilizing a .400 pro tree to start the race.

Sponsorship for the class is being provided by Stefko Racing engines, which is owned and operated by John Stefko, who is also a former successful Super Gas racer. Located east of Toronto in Stouffville Ontario, Stefko Racing Engines is Ontario’s “go-to” race engine builder. The core of the business is the efficient delivery of power and performance to your drivetrain. SRE will discuss your goals, analyse your needs and recommend the best solution to help you achieve those goals.

John would go on to say, “I had a chance to race in the Super Gas Series at Cayuga back in the early 80’s. Back then we could go 9.60’s at 141 mph, now these guys and girls are going anywhere from 150-170 mph! It should make it real interesting to watch, especially at the top end”

Fans and racers looking to attend the races this weekend will see gates open Friday at 6:30 pm and close at 11 pm. They re-open again on Saturday and Sunday at 9 am. Qualifying on Saturday begins at 11 am with Round One of Eliminations slated to start in the early afternoon.
