Extreme 32 Series to Kick Off Year #4

Ontario’s Grand Bend Motorplex will once again feature a unique designed local racing series….

The 2013 season will be season number 4 for this series designed to offer  the quickest 32 qualifiers, regardless of vehicle type (Door cars, Dragsters, Altereds, Bikes, etc.).

The opportunity to win a guaranteed $1200 at each race plus a can of fuel supplied by VP Racing Fuels. The series provides a race each day (Sat & Sun – 2 qualifiers followed by eliminations) so competitors can come for one day or make the most of their towing costs by racing both days. (Many competitors also enter another GBM Thunder series class, providing   2 races per day or 4 for the weekend.)  Like other quick series the format also pits door cars vs door cars, dragsters vs dragsters etc. until the ladders are combined.

The brains behind this 10 race series are racers themselves and also the series primary sponsors Ed Smith of Rocksedge Land Development and John Pizzo from Veloce Italian Kitchen (a new restaurant concept opening  in London to go along with his successful Armando’s operations in Windsor).  Presenting sponsors of the series are The Portiss family from Sarnia Drywall Supply.  Both Ed and John race their dragsters in the series, Doug Portiss races his Malibu and Daughter in Law Josie Brooks her Bike.

“We see this series as a great alternative/option for those teams ( 7 second Dragsters & 8 second Door cars, etc.) who are not quick enough or can’t commit to the Napa Q32 series,  but want a fun & competitive program comprised of similarly quick vehicles” says Ed Smith. John Pizzo adds “ Being racers ourselves we like supporting the drag racing community and we see this program filling a void. That is why we supported it from the beginning and are expanding our involvement again in 2013”.

The series opens May 18th & 19th as part of GBM’s big season opener –  The RPM Magazine/Lucas Oil Spring Blowout event. In addition to the Extreme 32 and GBM Thunder and Junior classes the event will feature NDRA Alcohol Funny cars, NDRA Pro Mods, Jets, Canadian Bands and More.

Series information for the Extreme 32 and all GBM classes is available on the GBM website www.grandbendmotorplex.com
