Some more major racer accomplishments and news from within the Canadian drag racing environment!!….

British Columbia’s Shawn Cowie came painfully close to winning drag racing’s ultimate prize – when he placed runner-up in TAD at Indy last Monday! Cowie lost a narrow 5.352 secs to 5.369 final round decision to Dan Page. Shawn had qualified #6 (5.284 secs) and had defeated Josh Hart, Duane Shields and Rich McPhillips in earlier U.S. Nationals TAD class competition.

Regina’s Sandy Cawsey had a nice placing during the recent LODRS event held mid-August at Brainerd Minnesota. Racing a cool looking ’70 Ford Fairlane – Cawsey won the event’s special Super Street Shootout (presented by Karl Performance) for 10.90 class cars – hitting a near perfect 10.902 secs in the final to score that title. Niagara Falls Ontario racer Jim Thomson has clinched the 2016 points championship for the very popular Eastern Canadian-based Joe’s Transmission TNT Super Series. Thomson, racing his Chevy Nova was assured that season #1 final ranking during that series’ double header racing weekend held at Lancaster NY – over the Labour Day weekend.

Kudos go out to Exeter Ontario’s Tyler Scott and the entire Kardiac Kids TAFC team who for the second year in a row have won the NDRA’s season championship points prize. Tyler and car owner Larry Dobbs (from Welland ON) were assured the honour last weekend during Cayuga’s Canadian Funny Car Championships race. Congrats go out too to Tyler and his wife Katelyn who followed things up shortly after the event with the birth of their new baby boy – Nathan Douglas!
