NitroMoose Multi-Car Attack!
NitroMoose Motorsports - July 25, 2008

DragRaceCanada's own NitroMoose Motorsports racing team fielded it's most aggressive attack yet during last weekend's IHRA Mopar Canadian Nationals -- with three cars entered in competition.

The event effort was highlighted by the team's flagship NitroMoose Pro Modified Corvette driven by Manitoba's Kenny Lang which extended it's overall IHRA Pro Modified Championship points margin with a superb "final four" finish.

Lang wheeled his '53 Corvette into Sunday's final eliminations following a 6.073 secs shot during time trials which qualified him 4th. He then took the measure of both Quain Stott and Scott Cannon before losing a semi-final round decision to Tommy D'Aprile, driver of Mel Bush's ultra-cool '62 Chevy. Kenny ran 6.270 secs at 234.09 mph in that match compared to D'Aprile's superior 6.146 secs at 233.08 mph.

"Overall we're happy with the semi final finish and the fact we padded our points position a bit," stated Kenny Lang. "You always want to go further but in the class the competition is so tough because of all the great cars and drivers. I also don't remember an event that we raced at with such vastly different conditions. It was a real roller coaster ride tuning the car."

NitroMoose Motorsports was also pleased with the debut of it's newest full-time team member, the legendary Otterville, Ontario-based Konigshofer Brothers Pro Stock team. Driver John Konigshofer qualified his all new Ford Mustang 9th with a run of 6.425 secs at 217.98 mph and then ran even quicker at 6.421 secs while losing out to IHRA championship contender Jeff Dobbins in round one. Dobbins did overcome a slight holeshot to win that round with a quicker run of 6.388 secs.

The "NitroMoose" was also flown proudly for the first time by London Ontario's Rob Atchison. At Grand Bend, the 3X IHRA World Champion was part of an initial one-race deal.

Robbie was as usual right in the mix in the Alcohol Funny Car category, qualifying 3rd with a 5.871 secs and then winning round one over Tim Stevens. Atchison, who also earned top speed of the meet for the class at 245.09 mph, lost out in a super exciting semi-final round match to cross-town rival Paul Noakes. Paul edged Rob by the narrowest of margins; 5.900 secs to 5.903 secs.

Everyone at NitroMoose Motorsports offers it's congratulations to Paul and his Hoosier Thunder Motorsports team who then went on to win the event.

"We are once again very appreciative of all the friends we have in drag racing who are stepping forward to help showcase our NitroMoose brand," said Bruce Biegler, NitroMoose founder and owner. "We enjoyed the enhanced associations we began at this race and we are looking forward to future opportunities together."
