Hometown Hero Wins ANDRA TF Round 2

       Perth Motorplex/ANDRA - December 9, 2009

Perth's Martin Stamatis, in the Jim Read Racing/Billview Top Fuel Dragster, took a well deserved win at round 2 of the ANDRA Pro Series Drag Racing Top Fuel Championship held last weekend at far Western Australia's Perth Motorplex.

In front of a large crowd Stamatis worked his way through 3 rounds of eliminations defeating fellow West Aussie Allan Dobson in the Santo Rapisarda entry before downing team mate Phil Read with a solid 4.74 second ET in the semi finals to set up a final round match up with the defending Australian Champion Phil Lamattina.

It was all Stamatis who rocketed across the finish line in 4.70 seconds to beat the Victorian.

Team owner, Jim Read, said that while 3 engines had been put into Phil's car, Stamatis car had the same engine in it all weekend. (Hmmmm....Karma?)

Stamatis said the win capped of a tulmultuous, emotional, but rewarding fortnight.
