Racing his Corvette, Alberta’s Eddy Plaizier had the best finish for all Canadian drivers at the Las Vegas National event – narrowly losing the S/G final (10.037 to 10.038 secs)!
Don St. Arnaud qualified his injected nitro car #5 in TAD and set top speed of the meet for the class at 277.09 mph.
The highly anticipated return of the JB Power Centre Pro Mod Mustang owned by Jim Bell occurred at Las Vegas with U.S.-based driver Kevin Fisucs. The rebuilt machine had a very promising best run of 5.980 secs.
Edmonton’s Casey Plaizier raced his high-flying ’97 Firebird C/SA in Stock.
Shawn Cowie qualified #9 for the tough TAD show with a 5.379 secs effort in the Surrey BC based car.
Bob Blair (from DeWinton AB) entered his awesome FSS/B ’12 Mustang in Super Stock and qualified @ -.937 secs
The Red Deer-based TAFC owned by Geoff Goodwin, driven by Greg Hunter and backed up by Staci Hunter — was once again a very popular fan attraction!
Ontario’s Eric Latino (from Whitby) was the only Canadian racer to qualify in the event’s Pro Mod program. Eric had a best run of 5.896 secs = #9.
Wily Canadian Super Stock driver Don Thomas (Sherwood Park) entered his reliable Pontiac Grand-Am in Super Stock.
Canadian Sportsman “hitter” Mike Shannon raced two cars at Las Vegas including his Super Comp dragster.
Regina Saskatchewan was well represented at Las Vegas with racers Grant Singer and Bruce Schmiedl (top) both entered for competition.
BC’s Rick McKinney qualified his ’84 Cutlass SS/LA at -.631 and advanced to the second round.
Popular “Stormin’ Norman” LaPointe raced his GT Cobalt at Las Vegas but fell to fellow Canadian Bob Blair in round #1
Frankie Plaizier-Giroux entered her very cool military themed dragster for Super Comp event racing.
Certainly one of the event’s bigger surprises was the DNQ for usually hard running Kenny Lang’s Winnipeg based Pro Mod Camaro.
