Lesenko to close out season at Las Vegas

Edmonton’s Todd Lesenko plans to close out his 2013 racing season next weekend when he enters the NHRA Toyota Nationals at the “the Strip” at Las Vegas Speedway….

aBThe event will mark Todd’s first appearance back in NHRA since running during the O’Reilly Northwest Nationals at Seattle last August.

Todd will be once again be behind the wheel of the Fountain Tire-sponsored Dodge Charger which he races in conjunction with Worsham Racing.

“I had to take a bit of a layoff at mid-season which is a direct result of business demands due to ongoing expansion of our Fountain Tire company,” Todd confirmed.  “I was mentoring our staff into position to run these various establishments.”

Lesenko confirmed also that the 2013 season has  been very busy for him on the drag racing sponsorship negotiation front.  His aggressive plans remain in place for an expanded NHRA team effort beginning in 2014 — for which details will come later.

“I had to step back to also give that the major focus it deserved — there are ongoing conversations with several major partners,” he continued  “All of that is going very well and I’m optimistic that we will be able to step up our program next season in very big way.”

But Lesenko stated that his more immediate objective is to run well at the NHRA Las Vegas race where he will have a number of special guests present.

“Chuck and the guys have a very good handle on this car and we will step on it hard at Las Vegas,” he added.  “Our plan is to be more then competitive and go out this season with guns blazing.  It will be an opportunity for some final touches for impressions to our potential sponsors.”

Funny Car qualifying begins for the NHRA Toyota Nationals during the afternoon of Oct. 25th.
