Ferstl Scores -- Second Time Out!
Ferstl Racing - July 16, 2008
We finally managed to get our Super Gas/Rod car finished 1 day prior to
attending the IHRA Rocky Mountain nationals last week. We fired the car for
the first time at the race track. Running the race without any seat time
left this pilot a "little rusty" and eventually led me to a first round
runner-up late Sunday evening.
We needed to find some additional seat time!
We found it yesterday making 10 licks on the car in Edmonton and going to
the finals of our first bracket race of the year. My opponent, James Pahl
(Castrol Raceway track champ and Super Summit Series competitor at
Rockingham in 2006) was .024 on the tree and ran right on his 10.23 dial
with a nine. We were .017 on the tree and ran 9.943 on a .93 dial. The
difference was 9 inches at the stripe or .004! Mission accomplished!
As some of you may know, we completely tore our "new" ride apart over the
winter. Powdercoating the chassis and tin; installing new chromoly rod ends,
painting the body and applying completely new graphics designed by Greg
Obzuko. It was a lot of hard work and eventually led us to a very late start
to the 2008 drag racing season.
I have a lot of people to thank for making this happen but I won't take up
any more of your time. I will contact those individuals and personally thank
them for all of their patience. One thing I have learned over the years, you
can't do it all your self and you need to surround yourself with a lot of
talented people and I have certainly found the motherlode!
