The Webb Family Motorsports 1982 Chevy Corvette Funny Car is a familiar runner on Western Canada's popular 7.50 Pro Alcohol FC circuit. Driver Darrell Webb has earned a huge fan following with his car on the basis of some spectacular big time "tire heating" before each run. All that smoke has earned Webb the title of "Burnout King" with the local racing public and track operators. The Webb Family Motorsports Corvette body was originally built for Tom "Mongoose" McEwen. The 120" chrome molly chassis was assembled by Ridge Fibreglass Chassis and is home to a 526 CID alcohol burning big block Chevy. That engine was expertly machined and assembled at Campbell Automotive (Edmonton) and features Brooks rods, Weisco pistons, a Crane camshaft and a Littlefield 14-71 supercharger that spins at 20% overdrive.
Darrell Webb's drag racing roots traces back to 1976 and age 16 when began racing bracket cars. His graduation into the Funny Car ranks came in the 1993 season. Recent career highlights include event wins at Edmonton's Fox Hunt and Calgary's Funny Car Classic events during the 2000 racing season.
Primary sponsorship for Webb Family Motorsports comes from Lucas Oil Products. The team cites valuable support from Lucas Oil Products Canadian Sales and Marketing Manager Don Baker in Mississauga, ON. The team uses Lucas Oil Products extensively within it's racing operation and credits the team's consistent performances and low parts attrition to the product's quality.
Webb Family Motorsports also has an impressive line-up of associates sponsors which includes: Superwinch, Value Drug Mart (& Associates Ltd), Kodak Canada, Investors Group (Edmonton/Glenora), First Capital Leasing, Master Warehouse Distributors, Campbell Automotive (Edmonton), Shoppers Auto Refinishing, "Surfer Joe" Auto Graphics, Raytek and Canada Bread.
The team is also very proud of it's involvement with various charities in Western Canada. That includes Kids With Cancer (Edmonton) Royal University Hospital (Saskatoon) and Mission B.C.'s Children's Hospital. The Webb Family Motorsports Corvette has collected over $4000.00 in donations towards those important causes so far.
