NHRA “Wallys” Up for grabs at Cayuga This Weekend

Summit Racing Equipment “King of Track” to award a NHRA “Wallys” on Saturday…..

With many DSE Sportsman Series competitors such as Joe Ferrari (Super Rod Champion), Jamie Tupper (Top Dragster Champion) and Glen Baker (Super Stock Runner-up) coming off  successful weekends at the IHRA Mopar Nitro Jam Nationals in Grand Bend, their sights will be re-set this weekend attempting to win one of NHRA’s grandest prizes, the coveted “Wally” Trophy during the Saturday edition of the Headsupracer.com Summer Sizzler presented by Stefko Racing Engines.

Competitors in the Corriveau Concrete forming supplies Jr Dragster program will also have a chance to win NHRA hardware as they compete in the Jr Drag Racing League Challenge, which will award the winner a special edition JDRL Award for their win. Competition will be steep as race organizers are expecting competitors to come from not only Ontario but also Quebec and New York State to take a shot at winning the NHRA prizes.

“This upcoming weekend is going to be extremely exciting” stated Series Director Andrew Stirk. “We not only have the NHRA awards to hand out but we also have some extremely tight points races going on in almost every class, which will make every round of competition that much more important for those chasing the championships!” Stirk would add.

Saturday night after racing, a special charity event featuring Golf Cart/Pit Vehicle racing, raffles and 50/50 draws will take place with all proceeds being donated to the Canadian Cancer Society in Memory of Val Potter.

Fans and racers looking to attend the races this weekend will see gates open Friday at 6:30 pm and close at 11 pm. They re-open again on Saturday and Sunday at 9 am. Qualifying on Saturday begins at 11 am with Round One of Eliminations slated to start in the early afternoon.
