“Northern Force” to Chase IHRA World Title

It’s been a nearly surreal season for the Northern Force Racing team from Wingham, Ontario, with two wins in only five outings, including the biggest of those victories coming at the IHRA MOPAR Nitro Jam Nationals in Grand Bend during the month of July. That win qualified the team for its trip to the Summit Racing Equipment World Finals in Memphis, Tennessee this coming weekend, where they will compete in two high-profile races.

The event, which showcases the best sportsman competitors from across North America, will feature two races for the Northern Force team, both of which have special significance in relation to the overall outcome of the weekend. The first race, the Summit Sportsman Spectacular, takes place Friday and Saturday and is the last opportunity for racers in every class to earn a spot in the Tournament of Champions, which takes place Sunday, and a chance to win the 2012 IHRA World Championship.

“The first race is not only a great opportunity for us to get the car dialed in for Sunday, but we can also play blocker in preventing the non-qualified guys in that race from getting into the TOC,” said an excited Elliott. “We’re obviously going to this race to win the championship and put that number one on our car next season, but a win on Saturday would be pretty awesome too!”

Making the trip to Memphis with the team will be the Founder of Project Track Champion and the team’s major sponsor, Denny Snider. “Denny has been a big part of our efforts this year and to have him come along with us is a real honor,” noted Elliott. “He was at the race in Grand Bend with us when we won there so he might bring a little good luck with him to.”

The entire event is sponsored by Summit Racing Equipment and has some very special elements to it, including free admittance for all spectators and a live broadcast of the event at IHRA.com. “This is going to be a really cool event for us and we can’t thank the people at Summit or IHRA enough for putting sportsman racers in the spotlight like this,” said Elliott. “For all of our friends and followers back home to be able to keep up with what’s going on so well without leaving home is just an awesome deal.”

The IHRA Summit Racing Equipment World Finals gets started on Friday October 12th with the Summit Sportsman Spectacular. Sunday, the Tournament of Champions will commence with the ultimate prize of the 2012 IHRA World Championship on the line.

About Project Track Champion

Project Track Champion is the first vehicle that allows those will disabilities and illnesses the opportunity to experience the excitement of racing firsthand. The fully accessible race car allows the rider, and support workers, to strap-in to the passenger seat area of the vehicle where they can feel what it’s like to hit the banked turns of an oval track, or watch the tree come down and feel the acceleration as the car leaves the starting line at a dragstrip. In the spring of 2012 Project Track Champion founder Denny Snider founded Project Track Champion Access Motorsports in order to help raise awareness throughout the motorsports community for those with disabilities and illnesses. The Northern Force Racing team was chosen as ambassadors for the project within the drag racing community.
