Paolo Giust Primes for PMRA Season
Although the season has yet to start with the Pro Modified Racing Association for 2014, competitor Paolo Giust has been busy racing his Pro Modified with over 20 runs to his credit….
Giust has been in the U.S. Southeast already with his 1963 Corvette Pro Modified for testing and racing, and said he is very pleased with his new set-up.
“We have got a new MSR (Mike Stawicki Racing) combination” he said. “Everything with the engine is new except the blower, and we are happy with things so far.”
Entering his third year of PMRA racing, Giust, who is from Osgoode Ontario, has raced for about 10 years. After racing a Top Dragster in the Quick 32 Sportsman Series, the Osgoode, Ontario racer purchased his Pro Mod and has been learning and updating since.
His work paid off last year with a fifth-place showing in the PMRA Championship Point Award Series, and a win at the season closer at Grand Bend.
The Stawicki-built 526-cubic inch Hemi sits in an LJ chassis which has received numerous updates from G-Force Race Cars. A Lenco transmission tweaked by Bruno’s Automotive Products sits behind the engine with a Resolution Racing Services fuel system on top. The car is capable of high five-second passes down the quarter mile at speeds over 240 mph.
Owned by Paolo and Shannon Giust, crew chief for the team is Jaimie Clarmo. Shannon Giust, Jamie Petric, Matt Maxsom, Sherri Clarmo and Joe Kavanagh are also team members.
Helpful support comes from Jim Salemi and G-Force Race Cars. Sponsorship is provided by Chew-That Pet Food & Accessories, Clarmo Auto Repair, and Fromm Family Pet Foods.
Giust noted he has spent a lot of time with fueling the car over the off-season, and recent testing has proved fruitful.
“We spent a lot of time and R&D on the fuel system with Jon Salemi and Resolution,” he added, “we’re happy with the results. We are looking forward to bigger and better this year.”
The Pro Modified Racing Association (PMRA), www.PMRA.ca enters its 10th season of popular Pro Modified racing this year, while the Quick 32 Sportsman Series, presented by NAPA Auto Parts, www.Quick32.ca will begin its sixth season, and the Pro Bike & Sled Series (PBSS) presented by Wiseco Performance Products, www.PBSS.ca begins its fourth year of operation. Several times during the race season all three series compete at the same weekend events, offering a colourful, diverse, and exciting package of drag racing action.
The 2014 season for all three series opens May 16-18 at the Grand Bend Motorplex with the running of the RPM Magazine / Lucas Oil MAYHEM at the BEND Presented By Mickey Thompson Tires.
