Perry 0-3 In ZMax Finals
By: Bruce Biegler
Richmond Hill Ontario-based Top Alcohol Dragster racer Ken Perry came the closest he has ever come to winning at Charlotte North Carolina’s fabulous ZMax Dragway last weekend…
The talented Canadian driver in fact advanced to the TAD class final round for the third consecutive year during the NHRA O’Reilly Carolina Nationals, but was once again relegated to a runner-up status.
Perry was in fact the victim of a rather physic final round reaction time from his opponent Monroe Guest, who is from Oklahoma. Guest grabbed a perfect .000 light (!) in the final and roared to a winning time of 5.361 secs at 273.16 mph that held off Perry’s quickest time of the event, 5.348 secs at 264.08 mph.
Driving his recently re-configured “Iceman” dragster, Perry had defeated Brandon Greco, Darren Nicholson and John Finke while advancing to the championship round. He had entered eliminations after qualifying #4 at 5.374 secs.
