PMRA Horses Target Cayuga this Weekend
Following last weekend’s rainout in Michigan – PMRA, Quick 32 and PBSS racing teams are gearing up for the now season-opening Victoria Day Weekend Challenge at TMP’s Cayuga Dragway….
The first race in the Pro Modified Racing Association was held on the Cayuga Dragway of Toronto Motorsports Park in May of 2005, and the event was won by Carl Spiering of Jordan Station, Ontario, who defeated Al Billes of Barrie in the final.
Since that first race, the PMRA has traditionally been a part of the track’s Victoria Day Weekend Challenge.
.
And this year, the PMRA will compete with its two companion series, the Quick 32 Sportsman Series presented by NAPA Auto Parts and the Pro Bike & Sled Series presented by Wiseco Performance Products as part of the May 17-19 event. This year is the fifth in Quick 32 Sportsman Series racing, and the third for the PBSS.
.
Winning the PMRA race at this event in 2012 was Jeff Roth of Kitchener, Ontario with his 1941 Willys Pro Modified. Dan Aitken Jr of Belle River, Ontario drove his Top Sportsman Mustang to victory over the Top Dragster of Mike Everitt of Stratford, Ontario for the win in Quick 32 Sportsman Series, and Pete Stewart of Toronto, Ontario rode his Pro Bike entry to a PBSS win over the Pro Sled of Chris Bondi of Aurora, Ontario.
.
For the PMRA, this will be its second of eight races this year, while the Quick 32 Sportsman Series and PBSS will race six times this season.
.
Round one of qualifying for this weekend is expected to get underway Saturday May 18 at 2:00 pm for all series, with two more sessions later in the day. Round one of eliminations is scheduled to begin Sunday May 19 at 1:00 pm.
.
Several times during the season the PMRA, Quick 32 Sportsman Series, and PBSS race at the same event, offering a colorful and exciting package of drag racing action.
