For those of you who have not yet had the opportunity to partake — the NMRA/NMCA is a recommended source for non-main stream drag racing….
DragRaceCanada was privileged to attend that circuit’s marquee annual race last weekend at fabulous Route 66 Raceway near Chicago where the 10th annual Nitto Tires-sponsored NMRA/NMCA Super Bowl of Street Car Racing went down. Some 500+ entries in a very wide variety of interesting categories were presented and the racing was very heated from both an atmospheric and on-track action perspective.
Make no mistake — NMRA/NMCA events do dance to their own form of music. They offer up what is really quite a different perspective for drag racing compared to what we might catorgorize as the norm. But for any true connisieur fan of drag racing, this tradition of presenting premium fast Street Car racing should be on your menu. I mean really – who could not help be enticed by an overabundance of turbocharged, pro-charged, nitrous injected and supercharged — ridiclously fast street cars — of pretty much all shapes and sizes?
But what we are mostly impressed by is the emerging technology and experimentation which is prevalent at these races. Self admitted rogues, these guys (and gals) are at the forefront and cutting edge for a lot of all that. Looking top down, for whatever reason this genre of racing seems to embrace and capture a truer meaning and purpose for the sport of drag racing — and we really like that.
