Re/Max Racing On Rampage
Talk about being on the fast track! The Stratford Ontario-based multi-car Re/Max Racing team, which has been turning heads during a good portion of this season, exemplified that during the recent Hot August Nationals……
Driving a nearly identical looking and prepared pair of Mike Bos-built supercharged Top Dragsters, Scotty Wildgust and his racing mate Billy White both had very strong placings during the Napa Quick 32 racing series’ portion of that Grand Bend Motorplex hosted event.
Scotty Wildgust, who has driven a wide variety of drag racing cars through his career (including Pro Mod and TAFC) set records for the Q32 Series when he recorded the quickest and fastest runs ever seen in the TD category in Canada. All that came while winning the series’ inaugural Quick 8 Shootout feature which was a very successful and well received first time experiment for them.
Wildgust qualified #1 with a 5.959 secs at 235.41 mph over the biggest field assembled yet. First he beat back the very formidable son and father team of Brady and Bill Moloughney consecutively in rounds one and two before topping Toronto’s Tony Positano in the heads up championship final run off Saturday night. Wildgust’s supercharged Ajax-engined machine ran a record quick 5.934 secs while winning in round two.
Wildgust’s racing mate White (from Gadshill ON) then nearly gave the team it’s second win of the weekend when he placed runner-up on Sunday losing the Q32 TD title round to New York’s Jim Rubino in a super close decision. White had won his first ever Q32 event last May during the Victoria Day Weekend race at Cayuga.
“It was great to have our RE/MAX dragster come out this weekend and run a string of (5) 5-second runs and not only win the quick 8 shoot out on Saturday night but also set both ends of the record for the quick 32 series record,” said a very satisfied Scotty Wildgust. “This a true testament to the great crew and sponsors our team has.”
“Kirk Silbermann of Ajax Engines has supported us with our engine maintenance and repair for years and it is greatly appreciated,” he added. “Both our cars run just great and with very little breakage. We are also very thankful to Jon Salemi from Resolution Racing Services for his tuning assistance both on and off the track.”
With running at times four cars under one team umbrella things can get very busy and hectic for the talented team which also consists of John Weima, Morgan Henderson, Joe McCann, Dan Achilles, Adam Rooney, Jim McCann along with Chuck, Sienna and Stacey Wildgust.
Scott is also very proud of his daughter Avery Wildgust who is now in her second year of racing Junior Dragsters at the age of 9. This same weekend saw Avery make some of her fastest passes yet in her Junior which was also built by Mike Bos. Avery recored some stellar RT’s while advancing to the third round.
The team is very thankful to it’s valued list of supporting sponsors which includes: RE/MAX Ontario-Atlantic Canada, NGK Spark Plugs,Stratford RV Centre, Jutzi Fuels and Lubricants, Jeremy Bach Concrete, Stratford Automation, Ajax Engines, Resolution Racing Services and Pol Quality Homes Inc.
