Eastern Ontario’s Shannonville Motorsports Park will close out it’s racing season with an important tribute event over Thanksgiving weekend…
October 9, 10 & 11, 2015 is going to be a huge weekend for Canadian sportsman drag racing in Ontario as the 5th Annual Jim Parkhurst Memorial Weekend is going to be taking place at Shannonville Motorsport Park.
Payouts of $5,000 to win the Super Pro category and $1,000 to win the Sportsman category both Saturday & Sunday are a big reason as to why so many Canadian racers are going to load up and head to SMP. But the bigger reason for going to this event is the celebration of the ‘racing family’ and closing out another season with good racing, good people, good food, and a real good time!
The 2015 drag racing season has been the most successful season the Shannonville Drags has had in many years. The SMP staff plan on closing the year out with what will undoubtedly be the largest drag race ever held on the SMP property.
The Super Pro and Sportsman class payouts are guaranteed and will both be paying back the top 8 spots. Super Pro Entry Fee will be $75 per day & $50 Buybacks first OR second round. Sportsman entry fees will also be the same as a usual weekend and be $65 each day, $40 Buybacks first OR second round also.
The Nostalgia class that the Shannonville Drags introduced this year has been the largest contributor to their car counts this year! Featuring vehicles from 1976 or earlier this old school bracket racing footbrake class runs for $40 with $10 Buybacks. The payouts for Nostalgia work based on the number of entries, so 50% of the entry fees go directly back to the racers! The more that come out, the more that get paid! Street Class will be a $35 entry fee racing for $100 each day, Buybacks $10 first or second round!
Thanksgiving Weekend at the Shannonville Drags is always a huge weekend for the Junior racers and this year will be no exception. $25 entry fee, $5 Buybacks racing for $150 to win and $50 to runner-up both days for Junior Dragster.
Gate fees for both the weekend are as follows; Weekend $25, Friday Night $5, Saturday $10, Sunday $10, Friday Night Test & Tune $25.
There will be the Junior Dragster & Junior Open Banquet Sunday Night along with the free beef on a bun dinner and everyone is invited to spend Sunday night at the track with the racing family to celebrate the season!
There will also be a party in the pits Saturday night with different sliders to eat and practice tree competitions!
Over $20,000 in payouts will be won this weekend, but the prize that racers will have their eyes on will not be the money. The NHRA has the “Wally”, the IHRA has the “Ironman” and now for Super Pro, Sportsman, Nostalgia, Street & Junior Dragster, the Shannonville Drags will have the “Jimmy” for all of the winners in those categories!
