Fabled Cayuga Dragway at Toronto Motorsports Park will present some huge and exciting racing shows and series’ for 2016….
The popular annual Canadian Nitro Nationals and the NHRA National Open, along with a new series devoted to Sportsman racers, are some of the upcoming highlights at this iconic Southern Ontario strip.

The Nitro Nationals, the track’s major event, will once again return on the Canada Day weekend on July 1-3. This fan favourite event presents some of the finest in the top classes of drag racing with six Top Fuel Dragsters, four Nitro Funny Cars, extra nitro excitement and much more. Spectators will get a rare opportunity to see, smell, and experience some of the fastest-accelerating cars on the planet. Fans will also be able to witness the thunder of several jet-powered vehicles, including Jet Dragsters and the 36,000-horsepower Shockwave Jet Semi-Truck.
Two weeks before the Nitro Nationals, Cayuga will present the NHRA National Open, a return to major Sportsman-class racing. This event, to be held on June 17-19, will feature qualifying and eliminations from NHRA Super Classes and Sportsman Bracket Racing. On hand will be a large contingent of Stock and Super Stock cars vying for large payouts, which will be presented by John Scotti and the Canadian Drag Racing Hall of Fame. Other major events include the Haldimand County Community Weekend on July 22-24, and the Canadian Funny Car Championships on September 2-4.
The newly established Race Cayuga Sportsman Series (RCSS) will be held as a six-weekend, 12-race schedule, and featuring large car counts. There will also be six events this season in the Strada Race Wars, the Ontario Street Car Association (OSCA), and the Canadian Sport Compact Series.
The Cayuga Dragway at Toronto Motorsports Park has provided racing since 1954, and is the oldest operational drag strip in Canada. The quarter-mile drag strip is just one performance venue at the Park, which also features a three-kilometer road course for auto and motorcycle competition, Dream Car Experience, track lapping, testing, and media opportunities.
