Wednesday Night Wonder Coming

Call it what you want — The Rumble in THE Jungle! — The Battle in the Barley! — The Combat at Castrol! — next Wednesday night is Castrol Raceway’s highly anticipated  “Hot August Nite” event arguably the single most exciting one-day event in all of Canadian drag racing…

This years Hot August Nite at Edmonton’s Castrol Raceway will once again be packing the stands, running more jets than the Canadian military owns and entertaining thousands of fans young and old.

Mark you calendars!  Wednesday Aug 14 is the return of the infamous Hot August Nite and for this event , Mageau Family Racing would like to call it return of the  The Rivalry at the Race Track.

Mageau Family Racing’s “Prospector”  nitro funny car will be up against Sitko Family Racing  “Team Ace” nitro funny car for a rerun of a brawl between the two at the last few Hot August Nites.  This is no race track grudge match, this is a long standing competition between two of Edmonton’s top racing families, and this goes back three generations!
.
” Both of our teams have been struggling this year”  reports Jay Mageau driver of the Prospector.  The Sitko’s “Chernobled” the Team Ace Arrow bodied funny car at the last race.  It was a pretty big fire and scared all of us watching. Seeing  Team Ace driver Nathan in that fire really bothered me. I have known him since he was a baby- as a matter of fact, his grandpa has known ME since I was a baby- so our families have a long history.  Off the track we are pretty tight and help each other a lot .

Happily Nathan escaped unharmed , and the team has spent the last month reloading the car with a new bigger nastier engine which they plan to unleash on us at this years race.
.
Meanwhile ,  The Prospector team has also had issues this year  and the team has been quietly working them out. ” We have done some things over the last month that we expect will make our Corvette a nasty machine again !  The long range forcast looks like no rain so we are amped to burn some nitro.”
.
” Hey ” says Mageau,  I love those guys , they are very much like my family , I am so glad they got there deal together , but love or not, when we go to the starting line , the gloves are off.  They will tell everyone they are just going to take it easy with the new combo , but we have known them way too long to believe that.
“When the Sitkos go to the line , they go to win, and in front of our home town crowd, so do we! It’s in our blood and thats what our families do”  One way or the other it will be entertaining!
.
So besides seeing a complete squadron of jet powered cars, a phalanx of funny cars , a 32 car field of Edmonton’s quickest sportsman racers, you will  also see ” The Assault at the Airport ” .  “A cage match of nitro!”  or a double  throw down  fire breathing nitro funny car race to uphold our families honours!
.
A side note:  An open invite to all the new Edmonton motorsport fans that Indy Car Racing cultured, and then abandoned-  this is a PERFECT event to get your horsepower on .  The race is a much shorter format than most drag races , and the entertainment value is through the roof.  Non stop action!  You won’t believe your eyes and ears. 200 mph?  NAH try close to 300 MPH for some of these bad boys.   Unlike Indy car racing you can wander the pits , meet the drivers, check out the cars. When its show time, grab some fabled Castrol Raceway ice cold beers and head to the stands. You will be rocked!  Wait till you see side by side jet cars at night blowing 50 feet of flames as they blast down the strip!
.
On behalf of Castrol Oil, Fountain Tire , Edmonton Fasteners and Tools, Boychuk Ventures, Amperage Technology Industries , and our home track Castrol Raceway , The Mageau Family invites all of our fans,  friends and family out to the track on Wed Aug 14 .  Come to the pits and say hi, buy a T shirt grab a beer  and then get ready to be blown away!  Time trials start at three, Racing starts at 6.
