Can-Am Cars On Track!
Victoria Day weekend signalled the start for the 2012 Can-Am Stock/Super Stock racing season opener at Grand Bend Motorplex…..
Perfect weather and summer-like conditions made for a great holiday weekend of racing. As usual, the Grand Bend staff had the track in perfect condition for our cars and kept it up through the 90’ plus temperatures during the day.
Saturday saw 32 cars prepared for competition. The finals saw Bob Park’s GT Camaro best the ‘69 Camaro Super Stock of Dan Velenosi.
Sunday, 30 cars remained to compete, with Bob Park having a “bullseye” on his back. Newcomer, Chad Groulx’ ‘87 Monte Carlo finally bested Bob to win the Tilburg Bounty Hunter Award.
The final was a very close contest between Tony Valerio’s Crate Motor ‘68 Camaro and Chad Groulx, with Chad taking his first win of the series.
Other winners were Brian Clayton and Jamie Groves each winning the Dilts Piston Hydraulics entry award.
The next series races are coming up June 9 and 10 at Toronto Motorsports Park (Cayuga).
