Canadian Motorcycle Updates — Winning in HD!

Canadian Harley-Davidson brand motorcycle drag racers continue to make waves within both NHRA and CMDRA drag racing series’ circles……..

In the final round from Cecil County Dragway and the NHRA Harley-Davidson Drag Racing Series, Damian Cownden, (Victoria, B.C.), took the win in the Top Fuel Harley division. That race was held this past weekend in conjunction with the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event there.

Cownden, worked his way through the field and ran 6.262 seconds at 226.66 mph in his final round victory over Doug Horne, Aberdeen, Md., who clocked in at 6.355 seconds, 206.73 mph.

Cownden and Horne had pretty close reaction times but Cownden was off the line first. Cownden had the better ET and speed down the track to take the win in Top Fuel Harley.

In the Canadian Motorcycle Drag Racing Series circuit, Chris Fox who had already wrapped up that 2014 points championship had yet another impressive effort coming at NHRA facility Toronto Motorsports Park at Cayuga, ON.

Chris Fox, and the Fox Harley-Davidson Racing Team, arrived at the Toronto Motorsports Park in Cayuga Ontario On August 9th with the 2014 Screamin’ Eagle V-Rod Destroyer Eastern Championship already in hand, having built up an insurmountable points advantage, during the previous five rounds. With pride and bragging rights still on the line, it came as no surprise that Fox and long time rival Pete Thomson continued to push each other right to end, providing race fans in attendance with a fitting display of drag racing talent and sportsmanship.

On Saturday, Thomson piloted his Rocky’s Harley-Davidson sponsored machine to the number qualifying spot on the ladder, serving up a reminder of the skills that have made him a multi-time champion. On Sunday, Fox and Thomson lined in the final elimination round for the fourth and final time this season. Despite Thomson cutting a quicker light, Fox was able to reel him in and bring home his fourth consecutive first place trophy of the season.

Fox and Thomson will both be headed west for the CMDRA Finals, in Medicine Hat Alberta on September 27th and 28th, where Fox will face the Western V-Rod Destroyer champion in the annual “East vs. West” shootout to determine the 2014 National V-Rod Destroyer champion. Action in the CMDRA National Points Series continues on August 23rd and 24th, when it heads north to Fort St. John, British Columbia.
