Laporte Cars Shows Steam
Ontario-based racer John Laporte and his driver Ike Maier made the long haul to IHRA Edmonton last weekend to compete in their first ever IHRA event in the Top Fuel class. The ever improving team showed very well while recording it’s best ET and MPH to the 1/4 mile to date. That included a 4.959 secs and 324.75 mph speed during Saturday’s “Chicago Style” shootout format. According to our records that terminal speed fell just short of the Castrol Raceway track record of 326.16 mph set by Tony Zizzo back in 2007. Laporte’s team will be in action again as part of a 4-car show scheduled at the IHRA Mopar Canadian Nationals coming up at Grand Bend. (Bruce Biegler Photo)
