Mercier Multiple!
Quebec’s Daniel Mercier raised quite a bit of interest during last weekend’s NHRA Amalie Oil Gatornationals when he entered not one but two injected nitro cars in the event’s Top Alcohol Dragster category……
Dan himself was behind the wheel of his familiar Cote/ABS-sponsored machine and it was former Super Comp driver Al Moeser driving the team’s new second car; a McKinney-chassied entry.
Daniel (from LaPrairie PQ) had a strong showing at Gainesville — qualifying 4th with a 5.361 secs and beating out 2011 NHRA World Champion Duane Shields in round one. Dan then delivered his quickest run yet at 5.318 secs in round number two — but that unfortunately included a foul start which negated a potential win versus Randy Meyer.
Moeser’s best run in the new car was a promising 5.511 secs at 260.61 mph but that missed the quick 16-car field cut at number 18.
