Near Misses X 2 !
Prolific Canadian Sportsman racer Al Kenny had a tremendous effort during last weekend’s NHRA Nationals at Maple Grove Raceway in Pennsylvania…..
The 2012 NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series Super Comp class World Champion came close to winning not one but two eliminators during the marquee Eastern-season closing national event race for NHRA.
The Kingston Ontario native, (who now bases his family orientated multi-car racing operation out of Kutztown, PA) placed runner-up in both the Super Gas (9.90) and Super Comp (8.90) categories.
In Super Comp, driving his Dan Page built dragster, Al’s 8.869 secs broke out in the final round which gave victory to first time winner Steve Martel. Just prior to that loss – Al fell in a double breakout affair versus Jason Lynch in the Super Gas championship round racing his topless Chevy Corvette.
Kenny had qualified #18 in Super Comp and #30 in Super Gas classes respectively.
