The fast rising multi-sanction racing BFR Can-Am Pro Modified team has added a new crew chief — who is from Canada….

Chad McGregor (from St. Thomas ON) is the new crew chief for Jim Bell's Pro Mod Camaro.

Chad McGregor (from St. Thomas ON) is the new crew chief for Jim Bell’s Pro Mod Camaro.

Originally from St. Thomas Ontario, 29-year old Chad McGregor has signed on as the new crew chief for Jim Bell’s JB’s Power Centre Pro Mod Camaro. Chad joined the 2-car team in late April and is busy honing his skills for the demanding Pro Mod class.

“After I moved out to Western Canada I was involved with high performance diesels using turbochargers,” Chad revealed. “This is however my first experience racing turbos on methanol and in the Pro Mod car class.”

“Since I came over I’ve been through the car’s (both Jim’s and Kevin Fiscus’s Mustang) and you get pretty familiar with them once you take them apart and put them back together again,” he added. “So to be honest it’s been a relatively smooth transition to this point.”

While Chad’s involvement with BFR is new – his experience within the sport of drag racing is not.

He was an avid Junior Dragster driver at St. Thomas, Grand Bend and Cayuga in his early days and also raced a 23T in Top Dragster for a while living in Ontario. He also gained valuable experience and insight while working as a crew member of the Paton Racing Top Fuel dragster for a few seasons. After moving to Western Canada – he dabbled with some diesel drag racing.

And the evidence is that McGregor is a fast learner too. Just last weekend during the PDRA race held at St. Louis — both of the BFR turbo cars qualified deep in that super quick field (Fiscus 3rd @ 3.872 secs & Bell 4th @ 3.875 secs) while racing in the event’s Pro Boost category.

The team’s next action is back on the NHRA RPM tour this coming weekend during the Toyota Summernationals at Englishtown NJ – one of the most prestigious marquee events of the entire NHRA season.
