Ontario Street Car Association faithful have been waiting for the day to come and finally last weekend the New Era Begins…..

OSCA Race #1 would be held at Toronto Motorsports Park and would give a chance for spectators to see the addition of a Pro 24 heads up import class to the series.

Limited to a 24 inch tall slick, Pro 24 will highlight what these small displacement tuner cars are capable of. With the majority opting for turbo applications you can imagine what lightweight and high horse power translates into. This should provide exciting side-by-side nine second passes with some dipping into the 8’s as the season progresses.

Paul Bhawan has been a recognizable face in the import seen for many years with his Splitfire Performance Civic. Bhawan sweetened the pot and put up $1000 to the 2015 champion so you can bet the class turn out will be even bigger at the second race. It was fitting that Paul would qualify his 1.8L turbocharged Honda Civic in the top spot with an 8.83 then make it to the finals where he would end up facing Frank K and his 1992 Honda Civic. Bhawan would get out front but down track would lose fourth gear slowing to a 9.64 as Frank went around him to take the stripe running 9.44.

King of the street bikes has opened up the class allowing power adders for the first time since its inception. Last year the seven second barrier nearly fell and in race #1 two hopefuls to be the first would find themselves paired up in the finals. Charles Spiteri would qualify number one with an 8.008 at 175mph with his turbo charged 2005 GSX R 1000. Chris Fenech would end up second posting an 8.02 on his all motor 2008 ZX 14. Spiteri unfortunately lost the final on the tree going -.016 red giving Fenech the easy victory running 8.11 at 161 mph.

Maximum Performance sponsored EZ Street had a decent showing of cars for race number one. Bill Foutris and his 2001 Corvette would qualify in the top spot after running a 7.83 at 183 mph. Foutris would however lose in the second round when facing the beautiful 67 Camaro of Suzy Stevens from Maximum Performance. Stevens would lose a nail biter in the semis against first time EZ street racer Franki Doldo with his 84 Z28 Camaro. The finals would see a pair of newcomers as Doldo faced Adrian Niedra who is a long time Pro Comp racer turned EZ Street competitor after stuffing the nitrous assisted power plant from the Mustang of the 2014 champion Ernie Zambri into his own PSP prepped 88 Mustang. Niedra wheelied past the 60 foot mark then black tracked it well past half track on his way to the victory running 7.92 at 173mph to Doldo’s 7.94 at 178 mph.

Long time Pro Comp racer Adrian Niedra moves to EZ Street and takes home his first victory.
