Jimmy Keen, of Parrish, Florida, driving his nitrous-injected ’63 Corvette defeated 5 other entries for the Palm Beach International Raceway event, to take the events Crower Pro Mod presented eliminator.
In round one Keen defeated Dina Parise’s 2015 Cadillac, then topped Bill Lutz turbocharged Camaro in the semi-final to face Bradenton Nitro Jam winner Isaias Rojas. Rojas’ 2006 Cobalt suffered mechanical failure at the starting line and Keen singled for the win. Keen ran a winning 6.330 secs at 166.37 mph – to earn his first career class victory.
“I want to thank IHRA for bringing Pro Mod back,” said Keen. “We appreciate PBIR for having a good track to race on. It was a hot day. Making runs all day, we’re happy for the win. The air was not good but there’s nothing you can do about it. We just kept making adjustments. We finally got it worked out for the final and it worked pretty good.”
