Pro Stock Partnership?
An interesting development last weekend during the ADRL’s 2nd event of the 2013 racing season included a merger between two of Canada’s highest rated Pro Stock racers….
Mark Martino (from Stoney Creek) was behind the wheel of Larry O’Brien’s Windsor-based Dodge Avenger during the ADRL 1/8th mile event held at Valdosta Georgia. Mark qualified the car #6 for the 16-car XPS field at the race with a best run of 4.110 secs at 176.60 mph. Unfortunately Mother Nature then took it’s toll as eliminations were cancelled due to wet weather.
While the arrangement between Martino and O’Brien should probably be considered to be just temporary at this point — it also was a return to the more familiar confines of Mountain Motor Pro Stock class racing for Martino who has exited the NHRA 500 CID class for now after the recent sale of the Martino Motorsports Pontiac GXP to a racer in Australia.
Right now — Mark and Tony Martino are reconsidering their future Pro Stock class options for NHRA. Going forward that may ultimately result in the ordering and construction of a brand new race car – brand and model to be determined.
