“Techno Todd” Takes Trans-Atlantic Trip to Tierp!
….Try saying that fast three times! Canadian native Todd Paton, webmaster to DragRaceCanada.com and also Field Technical adviser for California-based RacePak had a very interesting assignment last weekend….
Paton, now a familiar face riding his scooter from pit area to pit area during most NHRA Full Throttle national events, took a rather long diversion from those duties and was instead in the beautiful country of Sweden attending the FIA-sanctioned Sweden International Drag Races at Tierp.
“Tim Anderson (Racepak’s General Manager) and I, along with Joe Pando from MSD went to provide factory support during the event,” Todd confirmed. “In addition, we put on two seminars for our customers at the race, one Wednesday and one Thursday.”
At the event Todd helped a number of clients who run Racepak units on their cars — updating them and replacing any damaged sensors. During his time there he was also focused on providing software support to help the various European teams better understand the data they are getting from using the Racepak units on their cars.
“The Tierp Arena is a truly tremendous facility,” added Todd, who had been in Sweden once before about 15 years ago. “I was impressed. They set a couple of records in Pro Mod, Top Methanol Funny Car and Top Methanol Dragster, so the surface was good. The competitors were glad we were there to help if needed. We received a very friendly and warm reception from all the teams we visited. I hope to get the opportunity to go back again next year.”
