Cowie Racing builds momentum with a key NHRA Lucas Oil regional victory last weekend…..

Despite many obstructions/barriers given the current times  — British Columbia’s powerhouse Top Alcohol Dragster class racer Shawn Cowie has made a season statement.

His super talented Mundie’s Towing Racing Team claimed their first win since prevailing at the (pre-COVID period) season opening NHRA Winternationals last February at Pomona — when they emerged on top for the NHRA Lucas Oil Western Regional race held at Yellowstone Drag Strip in Montana.

Shawn Cowie and his Mundie’s Towing Racing Team got right back to business – winning NHRA’s Regional event in Montana last weekend.

Shawn and his group seemed pretty much un-phased by all the forced time off — winning the event from the pole over an 8-car field. Shawn set both low ET and top speed while qualifying #1 (5.329 secs 269.62 mph) and defeated Mike Austin, Kim Parker and Joey Severence to claim his 30th career win at the NHRA Regional/Divisional race level.

The win has also very significant in that it has vaulted Shawn into the overall NHRA Lucas Oil national points lead for 2020 — right now at this point.

With the win at Yellowstone now in the bank — the team will now shift it’s focus to trying to win drag racing’s ultimate prize as they travel to the NHRA Denso US Nationals at Indy next weekend.  As far as we know (and can tell ?) — Shawn Cowie is the one and only Canadian (based) racer on that event entry ledger.
