Quebec’s iconic Napierville Dragway plays host to John Scotti Canadian Championship Series…..
The annual NHRA National Open held at Napierville Dragway highlighted season rounds number five and six for the Eastern Division of John Scotti’s 14-race Canadian Drag Racing Series, last weekend.
The very well attended event, which included both NHRA class car racing as well as an extensive ET Bracket program played out under near ideal racing conditions.
NHRA class car racing, which was front and centre, did include a highly impressive Stock/Super Stock combo event – which saw a total of 69 cars though tech and racers from all across Eastern Canada and the Northeastern USA in attendance.
That marathon class competition saw Michael Ingram and Allison Doll emerge as winners on Saturday and Sunday respectively.
Ingram (from Middle Sackville NS), who is a dominate and repeat multi-time champion from within the Maritimes regional ACSSA circuit, took a final round win light with his G/SA ’68 Chevelle at 11.22 secs (11.20 dial in) to beat Marty Rinehart’s Pennsylvania-based Super Stock Camaro – which broke out.
On Sunday, it was Doll, another highly reputed NHRA Divisional racer, who found victory lane when she raced her Massachusetts-based B/SA Pontiac Firebird to the title, beating the ’70 Nova stocker of Trevor Ervin (from New Brunswick) in the final. Allison clocked a winning 10.285 secs (10.28 dial in) for that payday.

Stock/SS winners at Napierville’s NHRA John Scotti Canadian Championship Series Open included Michael Ingram (top) and Allison Doll.
The race weekend also included a strong entry list for the event’s Top Sportsman/Top Dragster Combo eliminator — with 28 machines entered for that 1/8th mile format event.
Saturday’s title went to Dom Vincelli who topped Fred Angers in the all Quebec provincial final round. On Sunday it was Ontario’s Mike Ogilvie roaring to victory with his T/D, winning over Vermont’s Robert Martell in the final.
NHRA index class car racing on Saturday also featured wins by Jack Webster from New Hampshire (S/ST 10.90) and Ontario’s Brandon Barker (Super Comp 8.90) and Corinne MacMillian (Super Gas 9.90). On Sunday afternoon it was all Canada in victory lanes as Mike Reynolds (Ottawa) won S/ST, Mark Green (New Brunswick) Super Comp and Eric Stroud (Douglas ON) collected Super Gas.
Junior Dragster racing also attracted a pretty remarkable field — with all Canada final rounds conclusions too. Saturday it was Carter MacLean (PEI) defeating Amelia Costello (Ontario) in the Championship round and on Sunday Logan Angers (Quebec) topped Bryson MacNeil (Nova Scotia) for the title.
“It was the best turnout for a National Open race – ever in Canada.” revealed NHRA Canadian regional manager Glenn Grow. “We had racers from all over — six Canadian provinces and seven different U.S. states.”
The 2025 NHRA John Scotti Canadian Championship Series continues on, moving further east to super scenic Miramichi NB this coming weekend for another double header affair.
