Big Score With New Sponsor
Lancaster New York’s Mike Janis could not have written a more apt script for the debut of new sponsorship for his potent Pro Modified Camaro…
Janis, who has for many years been one of the most prolific Pro Mod class racers but had never earned a NHRA national event win, changed all that when he raced to his first win in the NHRA Pro Mod Drag Racing Series (June 2nd) at the Toyota NHRA Summernationals at Old Bridge Township Raceway Park.
Janis, made his debut with new major sponsorship from Valvoline pay immediate dividends when he took his supercharged Camaro to a final round win over over defending Pro Mod world champion Troy Coughlin in the final round.

Mike Janis – one of Pro Modified’s most prolific races – earned his much coveted first NHRA circult win last weekend.
Janis covered the distance in 6.035 seconds at 240.51 mph to take the victory in the very slick looking Valvoline Professional Series Camaro, while Coughlin who was also the defending 2012 Englishtown winner clocked a 6.060 second pass at 244.12 mph for the runner-up finish driving his turbocharged R2B2 Race Cars built Jegs Chevy Corvette.
Janis, who was runner-up at Englishtown in 2011, advanced to his fourth career final round by outrunning Coughlin, Mike Knowles and Chip King in the first three rounds.
With the victory, Janis moves to fourth place in the series standings.
Canada’s Kenny Lang maintained the overall series points lead despite losing in the second round while driving the Al Billes owned Summit Racing sponsored Corvette.
Coughlin moved up to second in the standings with his runner-up finish.

Troy Coughin moved into 2nd place in points with a runner-up finish racing the R2B2 Race Cars built Jegs Corvette
