The Eastern Canadian-based Napa Quick 32 drag racing series continues to ramp itself up towards it’s season opening event coming in May….
Here is a quick snapshot of some of the off-season developments for just some of the series’ prominent participants…..
MoBoyz Racing TD
Jeff Moser and the MoBoyz Racing Team are not planning any major changes for the upcoming Quick 32 Sportsman Series presented by NAPA Auto Parts.
.
“We’re taking the ‘if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it’ attitude,” said team driver Moser. “We’re pretty happy with the tune-up on the car as it is.”
.
The Top Dragster team was successful in 2012, finishing third in series points, along with a pair of wins, at the Cayuga Dragway and at Martin, Michigan. The team also qualified for all Quick 32 Sportsman Series events last year, and has already been racing in 2013. Moser added they have been to Florida to compete in IHRA racing, and placed third during a divisional event at Immokalee Regional Raceway. The team also plans to race in North Carolina and South Georgia before the start of the Quick 32 Sportsman Series in 2013.
.
The Top Dragster is a 2011 Phantom Race Cars chassis with a 632-cubic inch Scott Shafiroff Racing Engine sitting between the rails. Behind the big-block is an FTI Powerglide two-speed transmission. Dual Holley carburetors assisted by a Speedtech Fogger nitrous system. The car competes in the mid-six second range at speeds over 200 mph.
.
Team owners are Wayne and Dianne Moser, Wayne “Jake” Moore continues as the team’s crew chief with James and Renee Detzler coordinating media and photography for the team. Melanie Moser, Amy Moore, Jackson Moser and Hunter Moser make up the rest of the team. Sponsorship is provided by Bast Auto and Tire Center’s, Stemmler Meats & Cheese, 570 News All News Radio, Elmira Auto Supplies Ltd, C&A Krueger and we are proud to announce that Hutton’s Professional Detailing Products has teamed up with MoBoyz Racing for the 2013 season. We look forward to using their Eco and User Friendly detailing products on our Hot Rod, race equipment and promoting their products to our fellow racers and fans. Check them out at www.huttonsinc.ca.
.
“We have a good sense of the car”, Moser noted about their upcoming season. “We’re ready to hit the ground running, and we’ll be ready to roll for the Quick 32 Sportsman Series.”
.
The MoBoyz Team will start the 2013 Quick 32 Sportsman Series May 10-11 with the season opener at US 131 Motorsports Park in Martin, Michigan, one of six events for the series this year.

Spencer Hyde TS
.
32 Sportsman Series presented by NAPA Auto Parts, Top Sportsman driver Spencer Hyde said he was pleased with his 2012 year of racing.
.
“Everything went pretty well”, said the driver of the Hyde Racing 1968 Camaro which placed fourth in points last year. “It would have been nice to catch Mike but it just didn’t happen.”
.
Hyde was referring to a pair of final runs where he was eliminated by the Top Dragster of Hinbest. The finalists of both Top Sportsman and Top Dragster are paired against each other for an event showdown, with the winner declared the champion.
.
Hyde, of Stratford, Ontario, qualified well for all Quick 32 Sportsman Series events last year in a car capable of 6.5-second, 210 mph passes down the quarter mile, and his best showings were capturing two Top Sportsman finals, at the Cayuga Dragway and at the Grand Bend Motorplex.
.
Hyde, a college student during the off-season, drives the family race car, owned by Peter and Lisa Hyde, who are also a big part of the team’s endeavours. The team is truly a family activity, as Spencer’s sister Sydnie competes in the Quick 32 Sportsman Series with her Top Dragster entry. Ron Hyde is the team’s crew chief with Jack Hyde, Murray Hyde and Peter Hyde the remainder of the crew. Not only did Hyde want to thank these people for their work and dedication, he also wanted to give a special thanks to Carl Spiering and ERD (Engine Research & Development).
.
The Camaro is a Jerry Bickle Race Cars product, powered by a massive 762-cubic inch ERD-prepared engine backed up with a Coan Engineering Mega Glide transmission. Sponsorship is provided by NAPA Auto Parts, Ideal Supply, Hyde Construction, Transit Petroleum, Hyde Electric, Dordan Mechanical, Raedon Excavating, Ronnoco Sales, NA Engineering Associates, Wilhelm Concrete, Steve Smith Construction, Sutton Group (Paul Graham) and Orr Insurance, Coors Light (Jeff Carr), Ramseyer Earthworks, Schultz Plumbing, Remex Trucking, iLOOKABOUT, and the Tim Horton’s at Ontario and Erie in Stratford.
.
For 2013, Hyde said the team has no big changes in store.
.
“We’re pretty well keeping everything the same”, he noted. “We freshened up the engine and we’ll be ready to go opening day after I get some seat time in late April.”
.
Hyde and his Camaro will take to the track for the Quick 32 Sportsman Series season opener May 10-11 at US 131 Motorsports Park in Martin Michigan, the first of six races for the series in 2013.

Grubb Racing TS
.
One of the strongest-running teams in the Quick 32 Sportsman Series presented by NAPA Auto Parts will be back for the upcoming 2013 season, but the car will be basically the same as last season.
.
“We will be running the same car with basically the same setup”, said Marvin Grubb, owner of the Grubb Racing Top Sportsman 2011 Pontiac GXP team. “There won’t be any real changes.”
.
Darrin Grubb will once again drive the GXP, which is a Chris Duncan Racing Cars product and powered by a 706-cubic inch Chevy engine from Par Racing. Behind the big engine is a Hutch’s Transmission Service Powerglide, which propels the car down the quarter-mile in the low seven-second range at speeds approaching 200 mph.
.
Crew chief on the team is Mike Dennis, with Marvin and Barb Grubb rounding out the effort.
.
Sponsorship is provided by Marvin’s Automotive Service Ltd., Pennzoil, Hutch’s Transmission Service, Ideal Supply, Chris Duncan Race Cars, Foris Signs and Par Racing Engines.
