Seattle Super Gas Superiority

It was all Canada all Corvettes and all Eds in the Super Gas final round during last weekend’s NHRA Northwest Nationals at Seattle!…

Seattle-Ed

Congratulations to Victoria BC’s Ed Hutchinson who scored his very first NHRA national event win when he beat out a red-lighting Eddy Plaizier in the 6th and final round showdown.

Driving his very cool ’57 Corvette bodied car, Hutchinson ran a winning 9.918 secs at 160.86 mph to take the victory while Plaizier (from Edmonton) had a -.02 foul start driving his ’63 Corvette.  The final was in fact a rather appropriate pairing of the #1 and #2 qualified cars.   Plaizier hit an index perfect 9.900 secs to lead the eliminator while Hutchinson was 2nd at 9.902 secs.

Plaizier had earlier also racked up some “Perfectly Strange” prize money  in round one with another right on the index 9.900 secs while winning the round.

Hutchinson had one other NHRA national event final round to his credit — he placed runner-up at this event back in 1996 while racing in the Super Street 10.90 category.
