Stratford Spectacular Next Stop for Napa Q32 Series
The Quick 32 Sportsman Series Presented by NAPA Auto Parts is once again proud to be a part of the upcoming Stratford Spectacular Hot August Nationals presented by Ideal Supply & NAPA Auto Parts at the Grand Bend Motorplex….
This traditional event at Grand Bend will feature the fifth round in the Quick 32 Sportsman Series, to be held August 6-8.
“We are pleased to be a part of this important event,” said Bruce Mehlenbacher, Director of Operations for the Quick 32 Sportsman Series. “This is a great venue for the racers and the fans. And with only two races left in the 2010 season, the competition promises to be top-notch.”
With over 40 cars anticipated in the Top Dragster and Top Sportsman classes that make up the Series, the Top Dragster team of White and Wild Racing with Scott Wildgust driving leads the racers with 839 points in the Championship Point Award Series.
Right behind Wildgust, who is from Wartburg, Ontario, is the 1955 Chevy Top Sportsman entry of Parkhurst Motors piloted by Steve Parkhurst of Belleville, Ontario with 812 points. Another Top Sportsman, the Grubb Racing 2004 Chevy Cavalier with Darrin Grubb of Pine River, Ontario behind the wheel, is third with 811 points.
Fourth with 807 points is the Top Sportsman entry of Wilson and Gray out of Ingersoll, Ontario, with Rob Gray driving the 2002 Chevy Cavalier. In fifth is the Top Dragster of Morgan Forrest Racing from Rochester, New York, with Buddy Forrest handling the driving chores.
The top ten are rounded out by 2009 Quick 32 Sportsman Series champion Kevin Wicke of Stratford, Ontario, Michael Kalin of Youngstown, New York, Jamie Bridge of Napanee, Ontario, Steve Corriveau of Fonthill, Ontario, with Michael Hinbest of Orangeville, Ontario and Jamie Tupper of Tillsonburg tied for tenth spot.
The Top Dragster side leads in the overall event wins three to one, with the Championship rounds going to Wildgust, Forrest, and Paulo Giust of Osgoode, Ontario. Top Dragster driver Sam Christian of Buffalo, New York won the dragster side in the other race, but was eliminated in the final by Grubb, who has the only event win for the Top Sportsman class. Other Top Sportsman winners are Wicke, Gray, and Corriveau.
The fourth round of the Pro Modified Racing Association will also take place during the Stratford Spectacular event, and the Championship Point Award Series presented by Magnum Auto Parts and Patio Passport is a tight one so far for 2010.
Leading at present is Mike Stawicki of Medina, New York, with 828 points. Derek Hawker of Corbyville, Ontario is second with 812 points, and Eric Latino of Port Perry, Ontario is third with 806 points. Each of the top three has an event win to their credit.
Bruce Boland of Hamilton, Ontario, last year’s PMRA champion is presently fourth, and Gary Irving of Toronto, Ontario rounds out the top five.
The Stratford Spectacular Hot August Nationals presented by Ideal Supply & NAPA Auto Parts event will feature the popular Pro Modified Racing Association (PMRA), www.PMRA.ca, and the Quick 32 Sportsman Series presented by NAPA Auto Parts, www.Quick32.ca featuring Top Dragster and Top Sportsman action with quick six and seven-second cars, the event will feature Alcohol Funny Cars, Pro Fuel Dragsters and Wheelstander along with a fireworks display.
The first qualifying session is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. Saturday and round one of eliminations for the 32-car field will take place Sunday, starting at 11:00 a.m.

General parking is $20 per car load and weekend camping is available.
