TNT Super Series “Double Header” at Cayuga Dragway

The battle for the 2010 Joe’s Transmission TNT Super Series championship is bringing out the best of the best 10.90 sportsman racers in the northeast.  With two-thirds of the season over, everyone will on be set on kill for this weekend’s double event at Cayuga Dragway of Toronto Motorsports Park….

Presented by Rosehill Auction House, there will be two complete TNT events this weekend – one each day – with qualifying starting at noon on Saturday.  And as an added bonus, Kevin Orr Mechanical has thrown in a “Bounty Hunter Award” for each day this weekend.  Take out the previous race winner during eliminations and you earn a quick $100.

Points leader Pete Maduri Jr of Tonawanda, New York has a stout 685 points and will be looking to extend his already unbelievable run this weekend.  While Canfield, Ontario’s Ted Barnes – sitting in second place with 571 – has other ideas.  His sights are set on the top of the pack and with four races left in 2010, anything can happen.

In third with 547 is Dave Surmatchewski from Oakland Ontario.  Cayuga is Dave’s home track and he’s won a TNT event at the fabled drag strip the last three times the series has been there. 

Close behind in fourth is Mark Herbold of Elma, New York with 546 points and Brampton, Ontario’s Fred Gross rounds out the top five with 518.

The Joe’s Transmission TNT Super Series began in 2006 and is entering its fourth full season in 2010.  Based on NHRA’s Super Street & IHRA’s Hot Rod classes, the multi-event series runs on a 10.90 index in the 1/4 mile (7.00 in the 1/8 mile), guarantees a MINIMUM of $500 for an event win and pays round money for EVERY round win. Competing at facilities in southern Ontario and western New York, there are only two exceptions to the rulebook – no weight minimum and left-hand drive open-bodied cars are allowed.
