Canada’s dynamic “fast doorslammer” scene was in full flight over last weekend…..

Both Mission Raceway Park and Toronto Motorsports Park host ferocious early summer action.

At Mission Raceway – despite a less than cooperative “Mother Nature” – that track’s highly anticipated annual Doorwarz (#14) was able to play out to a conclusion.

The coveted event featured again some winning propensity from one of Canada’s most top rated X275 class competitors overall — with Justin Gallant (from Chilliwack BC) striking pay dirt yet again.

Racing his turbocharged Fox-bodied Mustang — Gallant tamed that competitive 16-car assembly and reset some personal bests while doing so.

In the championship final, Gallant clocked both low ET and top speed for the 1/8th mile Outlaw 275 shootout — flashing up a track record setting 4.144 secs 177.74 mph to defeat Alberta’s Tyler Stamler who had a red-light foul.

Justin Gallant defended his home turf track surface — and more — last weekend winning big again @ Doorwarz 14!

Gallant’s highly proven “Circle D Specialties” Mustang had qualified #1 (4.17 secs) and defeated Trevor Kingsey, Bree King and Jeff Withworth in earlier rounds of competition.

“That was my third Doorwarz title in a row,” Justin affirmed. “Over the years we’ve done pretty well at Mission — not sure how many wins — I’d have to add them up.”

“But winning this Doorwarz event was special because I got to share the winners circle with my best friend and tuner Nick Duda (who won in the Pro Mod class),” he added.  “They were all late nights here, but that lack of sleep and thrashing were worth it. We’re not a big budget team so sometimes that requires working harder — I think the record setting we did is proof of that.”

Nick Duda’s win in the West Coast Outlaw Pro Mod division was another popular development from the Doorwarz 14 event.

Nick Duda was a very popular winner for the West Coast Outlaw Pro Mod circuit.

Racing his super cool ’63 Corvette, Duda beat Alberta’s Scott Blake in the final round of that 8-car 1/8th mile affair. Duda ran low ET of eliminations in the finale hitting 3.802 secs at 199.56 mph to Blake’s 3.974 secs 187.03 mph.

Other Doorwarz 14 event title winners included Brad Thomas for Limited Street – winning over Vanessa Richards in that final round battle of Mustangs. The event’s Real Street class was won by Josh Closkey and Jan Christensen took the Triple Index class with her Chevy Nova.

Jeremy Soares collected again for Top Comp (Electronics) racing and Derek Scherk was the event’s Electronics winner. Non-Electronics class titles were won by John Tabak and Craig Johnson.

Mission Raceway’s home-grown signature class product “Doorslammers” saw defending event champion and 2025 series points champion Mike Bedwsorth (from Washington) win again — defeating top rival Otto Schulte in the final round. Bedsworth (photo below) clocked a 7.074 secs (7.08 dial in) while Schulte broke out.  27 machines were entered for that popular class category.

CHU Season Round Two!

Eastern Canada’s fastest street cars assembled at Toronto Motorsports Park for the 2nd of 6 Canada Heads Up weekend races scheduled for 2026.

Canada Heads Up – Shootout Series presented by Speedwire Systems, Nash Competition Engines, Headrush Tattoo and Apparel and Miska Trailers hit the surface with blue skies above and that with excellent track prep produced some seriously quick runs all three days!

Super Street saw 2X and defending CHU series champion Ralph Aulicino back on top with his Camaro winning over Paul Bahwan and his wild ’72 Datsun.

Ralph Aulicino won in Super Street with his GTA-based Camaro.

There was a first time EZ Street champion as Jeff Misra topped Matt Glassford’s red-light start in that final round and CHU brought more X275 class racing to the Canadian market with Corrado Lentinello taking the win over Eric Phillips in the final round.

Pro Bike was dominated again by Oakville’s Jesse Vanbetlehem and his Canadian record holding VanPal Racing Suzuki after a string of 6.74 pass ETs. He took out his closest rival — speedy Brant Rossi in the final round.

SWB Bike was won by Mickey Dinnoo who met up with Shannon Poulter in the final round.
